Doggie Daycare: Everything You Need To Know
64Why Doggie Daycare?
You love dogs, but you also love your career and want the best of both worlds. So how do you make sure your beloved doggie friend gets the attention he or she deserves during the day while you're busy working?
The answer is Doggie Daycare!
Leaving your doggie at home all day while you're at the office is the only thing that most dog owners think they can do, but this is not the case. If you have a dog but also spend a lot of time working then your dog is actually struggling with this situation.
Dogs, just like children, crave a lot of attention and when they are left on their own for long periods they suffer from anxiety and stress associated with the separation. Often this doggie stress can be manifested by your beloved pooch through destruction of items around the home and yard, excessive barking (which I'm sure your neighbours just love) and even escaping during the day and running around the streets.
It can also manifest in little 'accidents' (or not so 'little' depending on the size of your mutt) around the house, especially in living areas where your dog is likely to miss you.
How Does Doggie Daycare Work?
If you've ever been to a human daycare centre then you're close to knowing how doggie daycare works also. It's based on the same ideas. You drop your pooch off in the morning on the way to work and pick him/her up on your way home and while you're away trained professionals - and devoted dog enthusiasts - engage your dog in one-on-one play and in activities with other dogs in the center. Your dog might enjoy any number of things on offer according to his/her interests, or may simply relax in a corner.
The cost is also comparable to child care centres and it's not unusual to pay less than $10 a day.
Alternatively in some areas you may be able to put your doggie into private at home daycare. This is a smaller alternative and especially good if your best friend is a bit shy in large groups. These home daycare centers are usually very well endowed for space and will be a safe environment. The only limitation of these private carers is that they are often more restrictive on hours (as obviously a home run centre won't want to look after your doggie all day and night).
You will need to provide proof of vaccinations and good health and usually desexing as well.

Nice article - and yes - we all want our pets to be happy and we are happy too. I only wish I could find doggie daycare for malamutes - they are not as popular with the 'regular' set as everyone tends to freak out and shout 'wolf'. It is all about taking care of our pets though and I so applaud your hub!
