What is a 'Clickbank Gravity Score'?

I started an online marketing business several years ago and at first I j wanted to know how to make money fast on the internet. $1 every day would have been fine. I have had to learn plenty of things, not least being a complete lexicon of new language.

The term Clickbank gravity is one of those confusing technical terms which has a particular definition that is actually only helpful to web marketers and affiliate marketers especially. It's a number that can provide you with a better idea of how many people are promoting a selected Clickbank product as an affiliate, but it is not an actual number indicating how many affiliates are promoting it. A Clickbank gravity of one hundred doesn't suggest one hundred associates are promoting that express product.

Clickbank Gravity Score

A gravity score is a dynamic number that comes from an internal algorithm that only Clickbank knows, but there are some components of the score that are understood. For example, if one associate sold the product yesterday that counts more than one affiliate selling it a week back. This is of course useful for knowing what products are currently seeing success. You could probably compare it to Google Pagerank for the amount of associates promoting a product. Maybe the one thing that is truly vital to know is a bigger number means more competition with other associates, but it also implies the product is probably being promoted successfully and that you could have some success with this product too. A gravity score over 100 is particularly good.

The gravity figure in itself never did much for me. You may be ready to tell if affiliates were promoting one product more than another and that would give you an indication if you would like to push the same product yourself, but that might be a matter of preference. It does not definitely mean that you are going to have success promoting that product yourself. In reality, occasionally it is sort of the opposite because your clients might have already had the product promoted to them by somebody else. There are several views among affiliates as to how helpful a product's Clickbank gravity is at determining the success you'll have promoting it. But like with all advice, you should be aware the neatest thing you can do is test it yourself. Also, a site like CBTrends or CBAnalytics that has a listing of past gravity values has some use as it shows other stats that when taken together paint a larger image of a product and it's success with associates.

My private formula for deciding whether a Clickbank product is a good one to market goes something similar to this. First, how will the payout compare to similar products? If it is higher then it may be a better product to push. After all, it often takes just as much effort to market one product as another. You might as well get paid handsomely for it.

Another thing I look for, and increasingly it is starting to become the most significant thing for me, is whether a product will supply a repeated commission or an one off payment. I like regular subscription products in particular because I will be able to promote it once and get paid again. There are a lot of wonderful subscriptions available on Clickbank now and I have had some success with them latterly. In the final analysis, whether you use Clickbank gravity or another formula for choosing products to push as an associate you should usually track and test your results. Try promoting 2 products against eachother and compare your results. There is a lot to digest as a Net marketer, whether or not it is language or strategy, but if you stick at it you can make a good living on the internet.

Great hub. I'm just getting started on testing the use of affiliate marketing. I'm going to try Click Bank and perhaps Commission Junction if I can figure them out as well.

Awesome hub. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain this. It sounds like Clickbank hired some of it's programmers from Google, though, with all these mysterious algorithms LOL Heading back to Clickbank now - a little better armed!

Cheers!

Thanks for the clarification - I thought it was how many are sold per month on average! Cheers, Nigel.

Nice hub! Gravity of 10 - 30% is my basis for promoting clickbank products. I do not go for the so popular ones because there are lots of competition. My next basis is to be sure that it pays at least $30.00 per sale.

And in order to drive huge volume of traffic to your affiliate review sites or affiliate links, forget about costly Google Pay Per Click, use only the methods here ---> http://www.hardcashhijack.adstore.com.ph/

You have a very detailed information about Clickbank which is very helpful to new individuals who want to explore and venture their time, and some money perhaps in affiliate marketing and become profitable. It may take time to see real money on this e-business, but it is feasible and very much possible.

This is still a little new to me. I wish I had've known more about gravity and recurring before I started promoting clickbank products. This is some valuable information here. Great job.
